Tryouts for the 2018 senior volleyball team will be held on the following dates:
-Wednesday, May 30: 2.45 - 5.00 pm
-Monday, June 4: 3.00 - 5.30 pm
-Tuesday, June 5: 3.00 - 5.30 pm
-Wednesday, June 6: 3.00 - 5.30 pm
Tryouts are mandatory and prospective players who miss one or more tryouts put themselves at a disadvantage.
IMPORTANT
It's important for prospective players to realize that this year's senior team will require a very big time commitment. All matches, tournaments, practices, and team events are mandatory.
Players who are injured are required to come to practice to see what we are learning as well as to help out. Players who do not come will not receive the playing time they otherwise would have gotten. In extreme cases, players would be removed from the team.
While the final team selection will be made on June 7, the final roster will actually be set 3rd to 4th week in September when player registration is sent to BC School Sports. What this means is that players who are selected on June 7 can rest assured that skill-wise they have been chosen to the senior team though if the player is, for example, failing to come to practice, comes late, skips video lunch time sessions, has decided to schedule other events (other sports, optional study sessions, part-time jobs, etc...) during ND volleyball practices, games, tournaments, and video sessions, she will not be added to the final roster in September.
All players must be able to balance these commitments to the team with their academic studies. If other commitments such as a part-time job, non-school sports (e.g., club soccer), ND out of season sports, or ND clubs, etc... will prevent you from giving a full commitment, it would be unwise to tryout for the senior volleyball team.
Prospective players are reminded that they need to be willing to play roles that will best help the team, meaning that a player may be asked to play a position she perhaps has not normally played in the past.
Finally, there is no guarantee for players that they will receive the playing time they thought they expected. The line-ups chosen will be based on performance and the girls who are effective will start, regardless of if they started last year on either the senior or junior team, if they have been on the senior team already, etc...
